Vast Love

Vast Love

Spread the love

I’m sitting outside, watching my one-year-old brother, J.J., crawl around on the ground.  He loves being outside. He can sit in one spot for ten minutes exploring what is right there in his reach; then he’ll move to another spot for another ten minutes.  He’s just so fascinated with the world around him; as all babies are.

God uses children to teach adults about His Kingdom.  I believe that just as J.J. could spend so long in one spot exploring, we can spend years in one spot in God exploring that area of Him.  I believe we can spend eternity in that “one” spot and never fully know what’s there.

God is so vast, so wide, and so marvelous.  He created the trees, the birds, the rivers, the stars, etc…  Out here in nowhere-Idaho, I look up at the night sky and am in awe… I am able to see the “star dust,” if you would, of the Milky Way.  I love looking up to see the vastness of the night sky… God made that; and yet, He still knows me—He still knows you.

After all we’ve done, and after all we’ve been through, our Abba Daddy wants us to explore Him… He is inviting us into His loving arms, to let Him embrace us.

God is so vast, so wide, and so marvelous.

J.J. has crawled over to one of his older brothers Reuben.  He knows that if he “asks” Reub to pick him up, Reub will.  I have quotations around ask because J.J. can’t talk yet; he uses gestures.  But Reuben still knows what J.J. is wanting.

In the same way, Jesus said that if we ask, it will be given to us (Luke 11:9).  But like J.J., sometimes we don’t know how to ask exactly what we want.  Paul tells us in Romans 8:26 that the Holy Spirit helps us when we don’t know what to pray.

So, if you feel lost, or broken—which I know we all do at times—you can have faith that God is right there with you… He’s scooping you up in His arms; can you feel His vast love around you?  Explore it.  You’re safe in His arms.
