No Fear in the Unknown

No Fear in the Unknown

Ya’ll know I am a Christian.  I profess Jesus Christ as my Lord, and Savior.  I believe He died on the cross for my sins, God raised Him from the dead three days later, He sits at the right hand of God the Father, and He’s coming back to Earth soon.  So, please don’t be getting any ideas that I’m converting to Islam when I say, “The other day I went to a mosque.”

Yes, I really did go to a Muslim house of worship the other day.  The couple days leading up to it, I was just praying about what God would have happen.  I wasn’t afraid; I actually didn’t think much of it.  The night before I went, I had the Frozen 2 song, “Into the Unknown”, stuck in my head.  Very fitting right?  Here are some of the lyrics:

“I can hear you but I won’t.
Some look for trouble while others don’t.
There’s a thousand reasons I should go about my day.
And ignore your whispers which I wish would go away…
I’ve had my adventure; I don’t need something new
I’m afraid of what I’m risking if I follow you….. Into the unknown…Don’t you know there’s part of me that longs to go…..
Into the unknown?”

Into the Unknown; Frozen II

In the beginning of the song, Elsa is not wanting to accept the fact that something or someone is calling her.  She just wants to ignore it.  She makes excuses, saying she’s already had adventures.  She’s afraid of risking things, she’s afraid of “new.”  But as the song progresses, she realizes that she really does want to go into the unknown, but she’s just scared.  The song was very fitting for what I was walking into the next day.

A lot of people say they’re scared of Muslims; but most of the time when someone is afraid, it’s because that thing or person is “unknown” to them.  Those Muslims I met at the mosque, and that I’ve met before even going there, were very nice, friendly, and open.  I went with a friend; she and I had wonderful, God-fill “coincidences” that day!

The young man we met at the mosque said he really enjoyed talking with us.  He almost didn’t want it to stop.  My friend and I feel it’s because we were carrying the light inside us, and we came to them with a spirit of learning, rather than that of condemning.  Jesus tells us to speak with love.  But you can’t do that very well if you don’t know how people do certain things.

So, simply trust God.  He will give you peace.  Who knows?  Maybe He’ll even give you a Disney song to help you!!  God was in all our talks yesterday!  God knew exactly where we were going, and when, and who we were going to meet.  In fact!  The young man wasn’t even supposed to be there!  He said he was supposed to be “somewhere important” but he missed his bus!  Our meeting was a God thing!  So, be brave.  Step outside your comfort zone!  You never know who God might want you to meet.
