Victory Belongs to Jesus!
This morning in my reading, I read in 2 Chronicles 20 about King Jehoshaphat asking God for help before a battle. He had heard his enemies were on their way to war against him. Jehoshaphat was scared, so he asked for God’s help, and announced a fast throughout the land of Judah. People from all over the land came to seek God’s help.
Then in the midst of their worshiping, fasting, and praying, the Holy Spirit came to this man, whose name is Jahaziel, and gave him a word. Which paraphrased was, “Don’t be afraid of the large crowd! The battle isn’t yours, it’s God’s! Tomorrow, go to the front lines and take your positions, stand still, and see the victory of the Lord for you! Don’t be scared, the Lord is with you!”
The response from the people to that was bowing in worship, and praising in song. The next morning, they all got up, and King Jehoshaphat appointed people to go ahead of the troops and worship. As the people were praising, and walking to take their positions, God struck down all their enemies. So, when the Judean troops got there, they found everyone already dead. It took three days to collect all of the loot.
“…The Lord gave them a reason to rejoice…” (II Chron. 20:27)
It’s an awesome reminder of how powerful God is, and how much our worship and praise move Him. Worship before you go to war, and you don’t need to worry about anything. Trust God, and follow His leading. He will take care of it all. Glorify Him, because the victory is His. He loves to bless us with “the loot” from His victory!
The victory is His! In the past over death. Now, in the present, over sin, shame, guilt, and the demonic. And forever in the future, over satan, and his armies!
Boy! That story about the LORD delivering them like that, and Jehoshaphat putting the worshippers on the font lines, is one of my favorite stories in the whole Bible.
Great job once again!
