Embracing Change

Embracing Change

I was just listening to a quick live chat by Pastor Cathy of Living Faith Church, VA; so, I cannot take credit for most of this content here.  It was all just so good, I thought I’d share with you!

Pastor Cathy was talking about change.  Before COVID-19, she was pretty adamantly against social media and whatnot.  But she says that God has completely changed her on that.  She even got an Instagram account!  Now I can see what she’s up to!  (Love you Pastor Cathy!)

Here are some nuggets I found in her talk…

“Some of the changes that happen in our life, we have chosen, and some changes have been chosen for us.”

How true is that?  I mean, there are changes I chose in my life.  Like, going to be a nanny in Virginia.  But there have also been changes that I wouldn’t have chosen, such as my family moving back down to the parsonage.

“Change is like going to a new country.  Don’t embrace fear.  God is taking you into new territory.”

I am in Western Washington right now, and oh my goodness…  Everyone has masks on; I didn’t realize how much people are wearing masks!  As I stood tall in the store (with my mask half off; it irritates me so much because I can’t breathe with it on), I felt like I was standing out, a head taller than the fear that was in the air.  I felt that I had to show extra confidence for those who are scared.  I don’t want to look arrogant, but I don’t want to succumb to fear.

There was one time when I went to Costco to get groceries.  I was fine the whole time, held my head high, but there was one area I walked through and I suddenly felt very afraid.  In my soul, I sensed something stirring… I was a little freaked to say the least.  I started praying immediately.  The feeling was gone after a long twenty seconds.  But there is a war going on in the spirit realm.  If you hold your head high with confidence, knowing Whose you are, you will stand out in the world.

One last nugget that Father God told Pastor Cathy, “I want you to get comfortable feeling uncomfortable.”

Nothing in this world stays the same.  Not friendships, not your family; not even your own body; nothing.  We are surrounded by a constantly changing world.  So, we better get comfortable being uncomfortable.

Pastor Cathy ended with encouraging us to be brave.  Embrace the bravery.  Take the courage.  Let God show you new ways.  Allow yourself to embrace all that you can be when God comes to enable you to change.
