Microwaves and Kids

To set the stage, I need to say we don’t have a microwave.  (Yes, really.  And before you ask how are we even surviving, we warm our food up with the stove or oven.  Easy-peasy.)

Because we don’t have a microwave, we usually get that “luxury” when going other places.  (I also usually need to relearn how to work this mysterious piece of machinery.)  So, when we went to Nana and Papa’s house the other week, we got to use their microwave.

Jessa, my five-year-old sister, asked Daddy to warm up some oats.  After my dad started the microwave, Jessa exclaimed, “I’m gonna watch it!”  So that is what she did.  She stood right in front of the microwave and watched it.

It reminded me that we need to have child-like faith.  We need to stay like a child in the kingdom of God.  We need to keep our awe and wonder when it comes to the things of God.

When we grow up, a lot of things lose their sense of wonder.  But children see things through new eyes, literally.  So, I pray that God would help me keep my eyes like new, like a child’s eyes.  I want to “oo” and “ah” over things that are “normal” both in the physical and spiritual realm.

What are some things that have become normal to us that we should still be excited about?
