Prepared by You vs. Prepared by Others

Prepared by You vs. Prepared by Others

Spread the love

Lately I’ve been eating a clove of raw garlic every morning to fight off any virus that might come at me.  Every morning I have been dicing up the clove finely so it will go down nicely.  I looked where we kept the garlic and saw it was gone so I decided I’d try the minced garlic we have in the refrigerator.  I thought it would be all nice because the garlic was already diced up for me!  But it did NOT look or smell appealing at all!  (Although, it was already peeled! LOL!)  I was nervous to try this new garlic.  I finally mustered up the courage, and downed my bite!  It was DE-SGUST-ING!!!

So, I was thinking about that… It’s kinda like the Church…  (Remember the Church is the people, not the building.)

People may like the idea of a pre-written message.  They may like the idea of a pre-thought-out service.  The thought of working to feed themselves may sound boring or like too much work.  I know this is true, because I felt this way too.  But they don’t understand the beauty of preparing something themselves.

Now, don’t hear what I’m not saying.  I am NOT saying that I am totally against listening to the pre-things of other people!  Those can be very beneficial!  Just like the clove of garlic that I prepare myself, and the minced garlic, they do the same thing; they both help to keep me healthy.

But you’ll find that digging into the Word yourself comes with a much sweeter aroma, and taste, than always gleaning from others.

Here is what I read yesterday in my Bible reading:

The day the Lord handed the Amorites over to the people of Israel, Joshua spoke to the Lord while Israel was watching, “Sun, stand still over Gibeon, and moon, stand still over the valley of Aijalon!” The sun stood still, and the moon stopped until a nation got revenge on its enemies.  Isn’t this recorded in the Book of Jashar? The sun stopped in the middle of the sky, and for nearly a day the sun was in no hurry to set.  Never before or after this day was there anything like it. The Lord did what a man told him to do, because the Lord fought for Israel.

Joshua 10:12-14

Who do you know would command the sun to stay still???  To me, that’s such crazy faith!!  I love how Joshua just trusted God to do what he asked so that he can bring glory to God’s name!!  It’s all over in the Bible!  If you need God’s help bringing glory to His name, He is more than willing to do it!!

So, I challenge you to get in the Word!  Glean from Holy Spirit Himself, rather than just gleaning from Holy Spirit through people.  I would love to hear how He is speaking to you!  You can comment on any of the posts, or connect with me personally on the “Contact Me” page!

Also, a side note… Technically the sun didn’t stand still since the sun already stands still.  God knew what Joshua meant when he commanded the sun to stay up.  So, God made the earth stand still! 😊
