Same Ol’ Love

Same Ol’ Love

Spread the love

New year, new day, new you, same ol’ love.

I just started a chronological Bible reading plan, and I’m already in love with this love letter that was written to me!

I was reading about the creation of the world, and was in awe of how much love and thought God put into creating this universe we live in.  He took the time to specifically name the day, and the night, the sky, and the earth.  He took time to make our bright lamppost, the sun, and our nightlights, the moon and stars.  He took time to say to Himself, “Let’s make humans in Our likeness.  They will rule the earth.”  So, He carefully fashioned our innermost being, and our physical appearance.

When Adam and Eve disobeyed, Jesus came walking through the garden.  He knew exactly where they were and why they were hiding.  Yet, He still asked the question; “Where are you?”  Jesus doesn’t want to bring condemnation on you, He wants communion with you.  He will ask you the hard questions, yet still love you the same.  Nothing you do can or will ever change His love for you.

When Jesus gave out the disciplines to Adam and Eve, He still loved and cared for them.  Before Jesus had “found” them, Adam and Eve were trying to sew leaves together for clothes… But Jesus took care of even that.  He made new clothes, better clothes, to cover their shame.  Because Jesus doesn’t want us to live ashamed.

So, here we are; starting this new decade, this new year, it’s a new day, you are a new creation, things are changing all the time.  But God is still giving His same ol’ love.  He’s calling out, asking, “Where are you?” knowing perfectly well where you are, but He’s waiting for you to call out.  There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ (Romans 8:1).  He will only respond to your crying heart with love, because He is Love (1 John 4:8), and He is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8).

Do you believe that there is nothing you can ever do to make God love you more or less?  Do you dwell in the same ol’ love that God has for you?
